Private Event Facility Rental

[ash-ling] is available for private events on a limited basis. We love hosting the community — it's in our bones — but we are first and always a bookstore, and we protect our public hours accordingly.

A Bookstore That Feels Like a Place

The [ash-ling] building has been a gathering place in Downtown Toccoa for a long time — longer than us. Proposals have happened here. Baby showers. First performances. The kind of moments people remember. If you're looking for a space with real character and a history of hospitality, this is it.

The store is available for private rental on select evenings and dates when we are closed to the public. We do not offer daytime rentals during regular store hours — our customers come first, and we honor that commitment. What we offer is an intimate, one-of-a-kind setting that no hotel conference room can replicate.

The Space

Full use of the store's main floor, seating, and tables. Surrounded by books. There is no better backdrop.

Sound System

In-store audio available for background music or presentations. You provide the playlist or device.

Coffee Bar

Basic coffee service available for your guests. Additional catering is welcome — bring your own or use a local provider.

Private Access

The store is yours for the duration of your booking. No other customers, no interruptions.

WiFi

High-speed WiFi available throughout the space for presentations, slideshows, or streaming.

Setup Time

30 minutes of setup time before your event and 30 minutes after for cleanup are included at no additional charge.

We've hosted baby showers, birthday parties, small receptions, author meet-and-greets, and creative workshops. The store suits any event where atmosphere matters and intimacy is the point. We accommodate up to 30 guests comfortably.

One of our most requested events. The store's warmth and character make it a natural fit for welcoming someone new.

Birthday Celebrations

Milestone birthdays, intimate dinners with family, or a gathering of friends who appreciate something other than a banquet hall.

Bridal Showers & Rehearsals

A memorable pre-wedding event in a space with real soul. Elegant without being stuffy.

Author Events & Book Launches

A private book launch or signing in an actual bookstore. We can help curate the books and set the stage.

Small Corporate Gatherings

Team meetings, creative workshops, or client events for groups who want something more interesting than a conference room.

Creative Workshops

Fiber arts, painting, writing groups, book clubs — if it involves making something or learning something, we're in.

Pricing

Simple, Transparent Pricing

We keep our pricing straightforward. There are no hidden fees, no mandatory vendor lists, and no pressure to spend more than you need to. A deposit secures your date; the balance is due before the event.

Minimum booking. Includes setup & cleanup time (30 min each, not counted against your 2 hours).

Added to your base rate in one-hour increments. Must be arranged at booking.

The Creative Event Package

If you want your event to include a hands-on creative element, we can help with that. For a flat add-on of $50, we'll coordinate supplies and setup for a workshop-style experience tailored to your group — drawing on our artisan community and the making tradition that has always been part of this store.

Before You Book

A Few Things to Know First

We want your event to go well. These policies exist to protect the store, our other guests, and your experience. Please read them before submitting an inquiry.

Availability
After-hours only — evenings and select dates when the store is closed to the public. We do not make our regular business hours available for private rental. Dates are limited and granted at our discretion.
Capacity
Up to 30 guests. Events exceeding this number will not be approved — this is a bookstore, not a banquet hall, and we want every event to feel right in the space.
Catering
You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages, or use any local caterer of your choosing. We do not provide catering. No alcohol may be served on the premises.
Décor
You may decorate the space. Nothing may be attached to the walls, shelves, or fixtures with tape, nails, staples, or adhesive. No open flames or lit candles. Balloons and freestanding décor are welcome.
The Books
The store's inventory is on the shelves during your event and is not for decoration or redistribution. Books may not be moved from their locations. Your guests are welcome to browse and purchase — the shop will be set up to allow this if desired.
Cancellation
Full refund of deposit with 14 or more days' notice. 50% refund with 7–13 days' notice. No refund within 7 days of the event. Reschedules are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Cleanup
The space must be returned to its original condition. Renters are responsible for removing all décor, food, and personal items. A $50 cleaning fee will be assessed if the space requires additional attention after your event.
Right to Decline
We reserve the right to decline any rental inquiry at our sole discretion. We are a faith-rooted store and take seriously what happens within these walls.
